Surgery Interest Group (SIG) hosts various Friday morning conferences, lunch lectures, surgical skills workshops, and provides mentorship opportunities that educate members about surgical residencies and life as a surgeon. Our group's primary focus is to foster interest in surgery, and provide ways for medical students to decide if surgery is a possible career for them. We arrange many opportunities for medical students to interact with and get to know surgeons, residents, and upperclassmen that are in their rotations. We also provide opportunities for students to learn some of the required skills of a surgeon, such as knot tying and suturing.

The Undergraduate Surgery Interest Group is a student-led organization dedicated to fostering early exposure to the field of surgery. Through hands-on workshops, guest lectures, and collaborative events, USIG provides undergraduate students with insight into surgical careers and skills while promoting mentorship, professional development, and community engagement.
